Stables & Facilities

Our training stables are based in the villages of Willoughton and Hemswell in rural Lincolnshire. The two villages neighbour each other (1 mile apart) and are situated some 12 miles north of Lincoln and 25 miles east of Doncaster. We have two training yards spread between these two villages and the yards have an association with racing dating back to 1880. The area is home to Limestone Stud which has been responsible for some famous racehorses over the years including Gunner B (a successful stallion), On Tiptoes (winner of the Queen Mary Stakes) and Wassl (winner of the Irish 1000 Guineas).
Mount House yard can stable 30 horses and is concerned with the training of all 2 year-olds as there is an indoor covered ride, which is about 1 furlong round, an outdooor menage and a lunging ring. Hemswell yard is home to all of the older horses. Each of these two yards has it’s own horse walker, weighing machine and turn out paddocks.
In addition to those mentioned above our facilities include a 7-furlong all-weather gallop, a line of both hurdle and steeplechase fences and a schooling area that allows for stalls work in our 3-bay set of starting stalls.
